In the article, "The Best Ways to Catch a Mouse," the author provides the reader with several methods for capturing a mouse. Although he lists several methods, one method that he references as the most humane method is the capture and release method. There isn’t much bias in this article. As I read through this, I tried to see if he leaned toward one method more than the others. His only bias seems to be on having a home that is rodent-free. What is nice is how he shares the different methods for capturing mice in a way that is easy to read and understand.
In case you are wondering how to capture a mouse without killing the mouse, follow these six simple steps:
- Get a toilet paper tube and crease two lines to form a flat sided tunnel. (This needs to look more like a box than a tube.)
- Put a treat on one end of the tube. (He recommends a cracker with peanut butter.)
- Get a tall (at least 20 inches) box or bucket—or a non-lined trash can.
- Balance the tube on the edge of a table or counter with the treat hanging directly over the trashcan or tall box.
- Because they like tunnels, the mouse will scurry to the treat and tip into the trap.
- Set the mouse loose—at least a mile from your home.
